Writing this Dell XPS 15 (2020) review has been challenging, to say the least. It’s hard to be objective about a laptop that you spend hours using every day, and which you take everywhere with you, especially when it’s as good as this one. If you’re looking for a new laptop, I hope that my review will help you to decide whether the Dell XPS 15 (2020) is the right laptop for you or not.

Specs and Design

The Dell XPS 15 2020 is what one would call a true consumer grade laptop. It has a slim build, long battery life, and really cool colors for gamers. The previous Dell laptops I reviewed were more professional grade and not as flashy- but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Besides its color scheme and sleek design, the Dell laptop we reviewed was pretty good at getting the job done. If you are looking for something with a better keyboard and even faster performance than this laptop might be perfect for you. However, if you are looking for something with features like an SSD drive or 4K display- this may not be the right choice. One of the main things to note about this laptop is it does not have a traditional webcam. Instead, there is a camera located on top of the screen which means users have to tilt their head upward when they use Skype or Face Time.

That being said, Dell does offer an external webcam which can plug into any USB port on your computer for an additional $129 purchase. They also provide buyers with 100GB of free cloud storage for six months, which will help offset some of the concerns about security issues. In addition, the price point for this laptop is very reasonable- costing around $1299 USD depending on where you purchase it from. Bottom line? If you need a new gaming laptop then get ready to drool over the Dell XPS 15 2020! With incredible graphics and great sound quality, it’s hard to go wrong with this powerful machine. Plus, with the 6th generation Intel Core i7 processor- multitasking is a breeze. Games run smoothly, videos play without glitches, and work seems so much easier on this device.

Although it is missing a few bells and whistles compared to other laptops in the same class- if you’re looking for a solid all-around device then looks no further. Performance wise, this laptop will satisfy most people’s needs- including casual gamers. The only real downside to the Dell XPS 15 2020 is the lack of ports which make this laptop a bit cumbersome to carry around sometimes. Overall though, the positives far outweigh the negatives making this a top choice for those who don’t want too many frills while still getting a lot out of their device. Those who are looking for a lot of options and additions might want to consider another product. But overall, the Dell XPS 15 2020 is worth considering for anyone in the market for a new laptop. For those who need a dependable laptop for everyday tasks, this is a great buy. You get everything you need for a competitive price and the ability to add upgrades downs the road.

Software and Input Devices

The full-size keyboard on the Dell XPS 15 is a pleasure to type on and provides just enough travel to feel like typing on a desktop keyboard. The backlighting is also well implemented, but not overpowering and makes it much easier to see in dark environments.

The only real negative I have to say about this laptop’s input experience is that you have no control over touchpad settings. Out of the box, it was set to be really sensitive, so every time I would try to scroll with two fingers or click with one finger, it would activate and make things super frustrating. So keep that in mind if you’re looking for a high precision touchpad experience because there are no options for how sensitive it will be out of the box. Thankfully, once I did some quick Googling, I found an easy fix to lower the sensitivity in Windows 10’s Control Panel. If you plan on using your track pad for scrolling more than anything else, then this setting won’t affect you at all since scrolling doesn’t require a lot of precision when done with two fingers.

I think that this touch screen functionality should be included as part of any future laptops from Dell due to its popularity among younger users who grew up surrounded by touch screens at home and school. It’s going to take a while before we stop seeing these displays on phones, tablets, and other devices so it would make sense for Dell to start adding them into their laptops as well. There are still many improvements that can be made with regards to responsiveness and accuracy, but the current implementation is sufficient for basic tasks such as web browsing or watching videos.

If we look beyond smart phones or tablets though, touch screens on laptops can do wonders too! Imagine dragging files around in Windows without having to reach for the mouse. Or creating a shortcut on your desktop with just one finger instead of having to use the whole hand! We need to start thinking about what computers will look like in 20 years, because our keyboards might not even exist anymore and touch screens could very well become our primary input device. Dell has clearly looked ahead with the Dell XPS 15 (2020), which has a touch screen display that allows you to use Windows 10 via swiping, drawing gestures, and drawing pictures.   Dell says that this laptop is designed for creativity and whether its photo editing, streaming live games, or creating 3D models, Dell wants you to get creative with the Dell XPS 15 (2020).

This year marks Dell’s 25th anniversary and they want people to know that they are celebrating by bringing customers amazing technology innovations.

Battery Life and Value

The Dell XPS 15’s battery life is impressive for a laptop with this performance and size. This Dell laptop can last over 8 hours on a single charge, making it a great option for those who need to take their laptop on the go with them all day. With its price point, it will give you more than enough bang for your buck! However, while there are many features that make this computer good value for money, there are also some drawbacks as well. One of these drawbacks is that the battery can’t be replaced easily. When batteries fail in laptops they often require an expensive repair or replacement. If you’re looking for something that will always have juice, then a different laptop might be better suited to your needs. Another drawback of the Dell XPS 15 2020 model is the limited ports available on the laptop itself. While the included USB-C port provides enough power to connect external hard drives and other devices, if you use any peripherals like printers or scanners that require a USB connection, it may not work out well for you. You’ll have to buy adapters separately in order to plug these devices into your laptop. In conclusion, the Dell XPS 15 (2020) is a great laptop with plenty of speed and features to get most people through everyday tasks. However, if you plan on using it primarily for productivity, I would recommend considering another one of Dell’s laptops.  There are tradeoffs here – mainly the lack of upgradability in certain components – but overall, the pros outweigh the cons.

And what’s even better? Dell has a 10 year warranty with every purchase! So no matter how long you end up owning your new laptop, you know that you won’t have to worry about getting a new one anytime soon. As we’ve come to expect from Dell, the customer service department is fantastic. I had a small issue with my keyboard early on and within three days of emailing them; they had sent me a brand new keyboard in the mail. Now that’s service!  If you want a laptop that does the job without breaking the bank, then check out the Dell XPS 15 2020 today! It’s an affordable laptop with a fast processor and a decent screen, perfect for college students or business owners on the go.

The battery lasts longer than average so you can stay powered up all day long, and at less than $1000 it costs much less than competitors like the MacBook Pro. But just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it lacks in quality. With its sleek design and variety of ports, this Dell laptop is great for both work and play!
