Even though Invincible season 2 won’t be available on Prime Video for some time, this R-rated animated superhero series’ development has recently advanced significantly.

For the upcoming season of said Prime Video TV series, lead actor Steven Yeun has begun recording lines as Mark Grayson/Invincible. Okay, so this doesn’t immediately imply the Invincible season 2 will be released soon—voice acting work can start at any stage of a show’s development. We’re excited to watch it, though, as it’s a huge development for the second episode of the series.

As we’ve previously stated, if Invincible season 2 seems to be as fantastic as (if not better than) the first, we’ll be delighted to wait to see Mark, Omni-Man, as well as the remainder of the Invincible crew again. We thoroughly enjoyed the first season of the series, so it comes as no surprise that it was a popular choice among Prime Video subscribers in 2021 based on reactions from viewers and reviewers to what transpired in that season.

What do we currently know about Invincible’s second season as we wait idly for its eventual release? There hasn’t been much fresher, news over recent weeks aside from the fact that Yeun is returning in the studio.

You will still find enough of information below to read up on, though, so don’t worry. In this post, we’ve included all the information we know regarding Invincible season 2, along with its returning members of the cast, likely narrative points (based upon our familiarity with comic books), the show’s prospects, and much more.

What is known about the Invincible season 2 official release

Invincible season 2 everything we know so far-1

Season 2 of Invincible has no set release date, according to Amazon Studios.

On April 29, 2021, the third season of Invincible and the second season were both revealed. Simon Racioppa, the show’s head writer, also asserts that the two seasons were in the works for longer than viewers might believe.

Racioppa stated, “We’ve been thinking on this for a while. “We’re putting in a lot of effort. Basically, I work on it every day that Robert [Kirkman, the co-creator of Invincible], works on it. We’re discussing it and are fully acquainted with the procedure. It takes time, and we’ve been trying to work on that for longer than I believe people realize. The show is enormous.”

Racioppa spoke on how Invincible season 2 was created with comicbookmovie.com.”I predict you’ll be delighted with it. So, I hope. Everybody wants to see this as desperately as we do, because we want to create it. Deep within. I really want it was already finished and that it was, but it’s not. Deep into it now.”

Mark Grayson/on-screen Invincible’s persona, played by actor Steven Yeun, had previously disclosed to Collider (in Jan 2022) as he hadn’t yet started recording lines for the show’s second season.

We now understand that things have changed, nevertheless. Yeun is seen beginning to record his lines of Invincible second season in a video that was shared on the show’s official Twitter account. We are now much more eager for the upcoming episode of the show.

The cast of Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man will begin production on season 2 very soon, according to J.K. Simmons, who played the character in a previous interview with DiscussingFilm.

We’re shortly going to resume our work in the recording studio, I believe I’m permitted to say, Simmons added. “Now, there is a clear time difference from when we start filming and when the animation is finished—I’d say more than a year. But I will add that Invincible is starting to work seriously and that season two is soon to come. There’s a good ambiguous phrase.”

Marge Dean, a seasoned animator, has joined Skybound as the division’s new head of animation, according to a statement from Skybound. According to a press release from Skybound, Dean, whose past projects include Gen:Lock on HBO Max, Robot Chicken on Adult Swim, and The Ricky Gervais Show on Channel 4, will “immediately focus” upon Invincible seasons 2 as well as 3.

Robert Kirkman declined to speculate about the release date of season 2 when speaking on a virtual panel of Invincible season 1 at Skybound Xpo in July 2021, that you can watch on YouTube. When questioned about his prospective involvement in the future Marvel Studios Zombies animated project, Kirkman also stated (in Nov 2021) that he had been “happy very busy with work on other stuff.” We can only hope that Invincible season 2 is a small fraction of the “other stuff” he alludes to.

Having said that, when may Invincible season 2 be on our televisions? Sadly, we do not anticipate it to launch via Prime Video until the beginning of 2023. Yeun’s return to the recording booth is something to relish, but it’s probable that season 2’s production will take some time because animated shows require a lot of labour.

Seasons 2 and 3 should be improved as much as possible before being made available to the general public, thus we’d prefer that individuals engaged take their time. We’re okay with having to wait until the next year with the show’s next instalment.

Who is on the season 2 cast of Invincible?

Invincible season 2 everything we know so far-2

Although nothing has been confirmed (apart from Yeun and Simmons returning), we anticipate the following actors to repeat respective performances from season 1:

  1. Steven Yeun featuring as Mark Grayson/Invincible
  2. Debbie Grayson, played by Sandra Oh
  3. Zazie Beetz featuring as Amber Bennett
  4. Gillian Jacobs featuring as Samantha Eve Wilkins/Atom Eve
  5. Andrew Rannells featuring as William Clockwell
  6. Walton Goggins featuring as Cecil Stedman
  7. Jason Mantzoukas featuring as Rex Sloan/Rex Splode
  8. Ross Marquand featuring as Rudy Conners, Kursk and Bi-Plane
  9. Mark Hamil featuring l as Art Rosenbaum
  10. Khary Payton featuring as Markus Grimshaw/Black Samson
  11. Malese Jow featuring as Kate Cha/Dupli-Kate
  12. Grey Griffin featuring as Shrinking Rae and Amanda (Monster Girl’s human form)
  13. The Mauler Twins and Kevin Michael Richardson portraying Monster Girl
  14. Seth Rogen featuring as Allen the Alien
  15. Mahershala Ali featuring as Titan

Chris Diamantopoulos (Doctor Seismic), Fred Tatasciore (Kill Cannon), Clancy Brown (Damien Darkblood), Jeffrey Donovan (Machine Head), Ezra Miller (D.A. Sinclair), and Michael Dorn are more actors that might make a comeback (Battle Beast and Thokk). We don’t yet know who will make a return, although Kirkman had already hinted at a few of them.

Kirkman has shown interest in having more of the cast of Something like the Walking Dead Television show return in upcoming seasons, rather than just fresh cast members. Although Yeun, Marquand, Laurie Cohan, Michael Cudlitz, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Lennie James have previously played a variety of parts on the show, Kirkman wants other members of The Walking Dead to contribute their vocal prowess.

For ComicBook, Kirkman stated: “There isn’t a single character just On Walking Dead with whom I do not want to reteam. A very remarkable cast of performers. There isn’t really anyone I wouldn’t want to bring in: Danai Gurira, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.”

Chad Coleman, who performed the role of Martian Man in season 1, is an actor who adamantly desires to return. Coleman made light of the fact that Martian Man perished at the hands of Omni-Man early in the first season of Invincible when he spoke to the UK tabloid The Daily Express.

“Obviously, Invincible is wonderful,” Coleman stated. “Kirkman is an extraordinarily talented guy, as are all the other people involved. I really enjoyed myself, and I like how it turned out. Hey dude, take me back for more, is all I’m saying.”

What is the plot of Invincible season 2 about?

The comic book series is entertaining but occasionally baffling. Although there are numerous potential routes for Invincible season 2, we already have a general notion of what it may involve. Several indications from of the series’ twitter Account as well as the season 1 ending were used to inform this.

Let’s start by talking about the Invincible season 1 finale. When Omni-Man realised he couldn’t murder Mark and subjugate mankind for his people and that he couldn’t capture Earth again for Viltrumite Empire, he sobbedly set out into space towards an unidentified location.

This storyline should continue in Season 2. In addition to assisting the Alliance of Planets in stopping the Viltrumites from completing out their plan to expand the universe, Mark will be entrusted with protecting Earth from the invaders. Owing to Allen the Alien’s warning, Mark already knew that a fleet is approaching. Since Allen will play a bigger part in the comics moving forward, we may anticipate that the bond between the two will deepen in season 2.

We should also discover Omni-Man/current Nolan’s whereabouts. Inside the comics, Nolan takes out to attack another planet in the hopes that the Viltrum Empire will compensate him for leaving his station on Earth. The connection between Mark and Nolan, which is still extensively developed in the comics, has a lot more for TV series to cover. If we delve too far into this father-son relationship, we’ll be here forever. For now, let’s just say that we expect to see a few of Simmons’ Nolan in the upcoming season.

In season 2, the program should also venture into cosmic terrain. Expect a universe-spanning narrative, stranger planets, and stranger characters to be brought to life on film.

The closing episode of Season 1 hinted to more possible subplots for its follow-up. The Sequids plot should continue since it wasn’t fully wrapped up. We are aware that what a Martian has colonized Earth because he switched places with a human astronaut. Furthermore, the astronaut who’d been abandoned on Mars is currently under the influence of the Sequids, which might be terrible news for Earth whether this parasitic race decides to travel to the blue planet.

The storylines of Titan as well as Battle Beast could also get additional development. When we last saw them, they had each assumed control of Machine Head’s nefarious enterprise and transported away from Earth. Their stories continue inside the comics, and according to Kirkman, fan favorite Battle Beast will have more screen time in season 2. Despite Omni-rampage Man’s through their home world in episode 2, the Flaxans also appear to be making a comeback.

One intriguing piece of information relates to plot points that weren’t even included in the comic book run of Invincible. Kirkman stated that he intended to add tales in the Television program that he couldn’t fit into the graphic books in a conversation with Beyond the Trailer. Damien Darkblood, who had been sent back to Hell with Cecil Stedman during episode 4, is one instance cited by Kirkman. However, it’s unknown if this will be included in season 2.

Finally, Kirkman has provided further information about the direction season 2’s narrative may take, and it may involve Angstrom Levy, who is perhaps Mark’s biggest foe from the comics.

Levy will be involved in the plot of season 2 once again, according to Kirkman after that statement.

Even during digital Skybound Xpo Invincible panel, Kirkman mentioned the following (although declining to disclose when season 2 would be released): “Levy causes quite a stir. You can get a feeling of where we’re headed with second season if you’re knowledgeable with both the comics and have watched the TV program, especially if you reflect carefully on how we adapted the plot in first season.”

Kirkman also hinted that there might be some “wild stuff coming” for TV show fans exclusively, while Jason Mantzoukas said he absolutely can not wait for season 2 to “bring more baddies… like Thragg” more of the interplanetary components from the comic book.

How many seasons would there be for Invincible?

There are 144 issues of Invincible comics overall, covering Kirkman and Walker’s careers by 15 years. The first season’s story points were rearranged for the television adaptation, however only the first 23 issues were addressed in the first eight episodes. If subsequent seasons follow a similar path, Invincible may finish from around season 7 or season 8 point.

However, according to Kirkman, there may be more or fewer. He said that there is a “rough blueprint for where items from the comics will land” in an interview with ScreenRant. Inverse also quoted Kirkman as saying that he “could see it lasting for five, seven, even 10 years.” If we ran out of comic books, perhaps we’ll air 100 episodes.

Although that final statistic is undoubtedly Kirkman’s enthusiasm for his own work, we can definitely see Invincible to last around five seasons. Amazon would be foolish to stop this after three seasons if viewers wanted more. However, a lot of it will rely on how well Invincible does with viewers in its upcoming two seasons.

There’s no reason that Invincible season 2 didn’t develop on the successes of its predecessor and endure for many more years, as Amazon has done with The Boys, a live-action series based on some other R-rated comic book by Garth Ennis & Darick Robertson.
