The Intel Core i9-10900K has been revealed, and it’s safe to say that this processor will be the most powerful available in the market today. With its 10 cores and 20 threads, which Intel has named Hyper-Threading Technology, this processor will be able to handle just about any task that you can throw at it. However, there are some things that you should know before choosing to upgrade your PC or laptop to run on the new i9 chip. We’ll look at some of these details in this review of the i9-10900K processor from Intel.

Pros & Cons

In terms of raw performance, the Intel Core i9-10900K is a heavy hitter. This processor has the power to outperform just about any other processor on the market today. But this power comes at a cost—this processor also uses more power than most and its price tag may not be worth it to all but gamers with deep pockets. Still, if you’re looking for a powerhouse that can push your games and other programs to their limits then you should consider the Intel Core i9-10900K. The new Intel Turbo Boost 3.0 technology automatically increases the clock speed when needed without exceeding your thermal limit or core temperature. As such, this CPU will provide high performance without excess heat even under extreme loads like video editing or gaming. All in all, the Intel Core i9-10900K review shows this is an excellent chip for gaming enthusiasts. It offers unbeatable performance while also running cool, so there’s no need to worry about having extra fans in your system.

If you’re looking for a top-tier product without breaking the bank, the Intel Core i9-10900K is one option to consider.  However, there are some caveats. For example, this processor will work best with compatible motherboards and GPUs (e.g., Intel 100 series). Furthermore, the i9-10900K doesn’t come cheap; for some consumers, it might not be worth the cost. Even still, this is a fast piece of hardware that won’t bog down over time or cause problems during long periods of use like some CPUs do. And with a 9th generation refresh coming out soon, those who don’t buy now might end up feeling regretful. Overall, the Intel Core i9-10900K review shows this is an excellent chip for gaming enthusiasts.

Specs & Features

The Intel Core i9-10900K is the latest in the company’s line of high-end desktop (HEDT) processors, which are typically more costly than their mainstream counterparts. When it was first announced at Gamescom 2019, we found that it offers exceptional performance thanks to its boosted frequency. It also has a hefty power consumption that remains steady throughout use thanks to its 4.5GHz boost clock and a 105W TDP, making it one of the most powers hungry CPUs ever released. These two factors make this CPU unsuitable for low-power devices such as laptops, but can be a great addition to home theater PCs.

The processor is unlocked for over clocking, so you can push it even further with some adjustments. Though you might want to add on an aftermarket cooling system if you plan on running this CPU 24/7 due to its high temperature rating. The chip will allow you to run any game smoothly with no noticeable lag when played on 1080p resolution, or outputting a video to your TV or monitor.  And for tasks like photo editing, rendering videos or compressing data, the 10900K does not disappoint. All in all, if you’re looking for a new desktop CPU that’s capable of handling demanding tasks while staying reasonably priced – then look no further! The Intel Core i9-10900K fits the bill quite nicely. With 6 cores and 12 threads, it provides robust multitasking capabilities, ensuring smooth operation during heavy workloads. The only downside is the requirement for a beefy PSU, which might cost around $200-$250 depending on your specific needs.

Overall, we highly recommend you consider getting a motherboard that supports Intel’s Optane Memory H10 if you want to enjoy its performance at its full potential. It is also worth noting that Intel released their new Z390 chipset for high-end motherboards with power delivery and I/O capabilities that can greatly improve your PC’s overall experience. Compared to the previous X299 chipset, there is support for quad-channel memory and up to eight total storage ports. We think that the Intel Core i9-10900K is a good option if you’re building a powerful computer from scratch, because it can handle just about anything you throw at it without breaking a sweat.

The Verdict

Intel’s new Intel Core i9-10900K is a beefy processor with six cores, 12 threads, and a turbo frequency of 5.0 GHz on all cores. But at $489, it has twice the price as Intel’s prior top offering and doesn’t include any pre-built computers from major vendors. For example, Dell and HP have opted to go with AMD’s offerings instead. So if you’re looking for an Intel CPU that will last you for years to come, this might not be the best option for you. There are other great options available such as the Intel Core i7-9700K which is around half the cost and can still perform amazingly well in today’s tasks. The same goes for AMD who now offers more competitive prices than they ever have before. One downside to the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X is that it only includes 8 cores and 16 threads while Intel’s 9th Gen lineup includes 6 cores, 12 threads.

It’s important to note that both processors use DDR4 RAM (2133 MHz) so there won’t be much difference between them when running games or performing other intensive tasks.   However, Intel has always been known for their unmatched over clocking capabilities and higher clock speeds on some models. Although the first generation of Ryzen CPUs was tough competition, this newer line of CPUs by AMD could give Intel a run for their money again. With up to 32 PCIe lanes and support for NVMe SSDs, AMD really stepped up their game. If you’re someone who does a lot of editing and rendering videos or playing graphically intense games like Fortnite then Intel may be the way to go because AMD lacks a bit in these areas due to lack of integrated graphics processing unit.
