After years of tweaking and redesigning their microprocessors, AMD has finally announced the release of the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, which the company describes as the greatest processor of all time (at least since the original AMD Ryzen CPU hit the market). With 18 cores and 36 threads, this monster of a processor will certainly let you work more productively, but how does it compare to other processors on the market? Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X.
1) Introduction
AMD has launched the latest series in its line of AMD Ryzen processors. The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is the first 7nm chip and also offers over 1 teraflop double-precision performance, making it competitive with Nvidia Tesla GPUs. This new processor also supports up to 2 TB memory and 8 cores at max speed. The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is great for heavy workloads like 4K video editing or designing 3D models. For gaming, this processor should not be used as it does not perform well in such applications. Reviewers have said that the multi-threaded nature of this chip means that there are some big wins for productivity tasks, but we can’t wait to see how they will fare against Intel’s next generation when they come out later this year. The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X’s price point falls within the same range as its predecessors, but it outperforms them all with boosted clock speeds, increased performance per core and more cache space. It comes packaged with a 12+16 pin power cable and would make an excellent addition to any home office.
2) Test Setup
The benchmarking was done on our test bench PC, which is an i9-9900K over clocked to 5GHz with 16GB DDR4-3466 memory. We used the MSI RTX 2070 Armor 8G graphics card. Testing was performed on the Windows 10 Pro 64-bit operating system. Our games of choice were Total War: Warhammer II and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X offers the best gaming performance in its class. With AMD SenseMI and Precision Boost 2 technologies enabled, this processor will offer plenty of computing power for your day-to-day tasks as well as being able to easily handle all your video editing needs. Even at stock settings, it outperforms Intel Core i7 processors by up to 50%. If you’re looking for the best value in a high-end CPU then look no further than the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X.
3) Synthetic Benchmarks
Review have shown that the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is exceptionally well-suited for tasks like 3D rendering, high-res video editing, AI computing, and graphics design. The benchmark results speak for themselves. You can find more detailed information in our review. However, we would also like to point out some notable features of this processor such as AMD’s Infinity Fabric. We believe it is one of the most powerful processors on the market because it integrates many different types of cores onto one single chip which delivers a considerable performance boost when compared to other chips with just four cores per chip.
4) Multitasking
For the first time in history, AMD has outperformed Intel processors on both their flagship benchmark and overall. With the highest clock speed out of any processor they have ever manufactured, an impressive 18 cores, and 36 threads, this CPU will make all your tasks done that much faster. However, there are some major tradeoffs you need to be aware of before purchasing this product. The $499 price tag is one example, as well as its inability to be overclocked like some other processors can. If you don’t mind these drawbacks and want to be able to perform at the same level as your pro gamer friends while still working at a competitive cost then the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is for you!
5) Real-World Benchmarks
The reason that AMD has done so well with their CPUs is because they don’t invest in fancy new chips. Instead, they focus on optimizing the chips they have and make sure they are cost-effective. For example, AMD’s current processors will typically outperform Intel’s latest processor at half the price. AMD Ryzen 9 3900X review The performance of this CPU surpasses its competitors by miles when it comes to single core workloads. It also performs better than most other processors for multi-core tasks. In terms of gaming, there was no discernible difference between the Intel i9 9900K and the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X.
Overall, this is an excellent CPU for any type of work you throw at it (excluding games). If you’re looking for a versatile chip, then this is your best bet. However, it does not beat out Intel’s newest CPU when it comes to gaming performance. As always, it’s best to do your research before deciding which company is right for you!
6) Power Usage
The power usage on the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is high, but it’s understandable as the processor is processing at 3.8 GHz for 24/7 use. If you’re looking for something to run games or edit in your free time, this processor is not for you. But if you are looking for power, this AMD Ryzen 9 will satisfy your needs. Reviewers found that the processor has no problem running anything and can handle 4K video editing without any issues. Overall, this is an amazing product that blows away Intel processors for performance and price! I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants a great processor that runs everything flawlessly. It has replaced my previous computer with ease and allows me to complete tasks with less wait time. It doesn’t require too much cooling like my old computer either which is nice because my old computer required a lot of maintenance after a while. In addition, I was surprised by how quiet the AMD Ryzen 9 was compared to my previous computer which always made so much noise!
7) Temperatures
It’s hard to find anything wrong with the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X. It’s an amazing piece of engineering and it packs plenty of features for high-performance content creation and entertainment. Whether you are working in the office or streaming your favorite show, the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is an excellent processor that will perform well for many years to come. If you’re looking for some gaming power on the side, then this might not be the CPU for you.
Might be better as a desktop CPU? Since it doesn’t include integrated graphics, gamers should opt for something like AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. With this being said, if you are looking for raw processing power and excellent cooling potential at an affordable price point (around $600), then the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is perfect!
It offers plenty of cores to run your most intensive applications in both business and entertainment environments, but it’s not exactly great for gaming or content creation. So why choose AMD Ryzen 9 3900X over Intel’s i9-9900K? Because there are more cores and threads – 8 versus 8. And 16MB more cache – 32 versus 16 MB . In short, AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is faster than the i9-9900K while costing less.It also runs cool with just 1 fan on it’s heatsink design.
8) Final Thoughts
The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is undoubtedly one of the best processors that AMD has released in a long time. From an overall performance standpoint, this chip is leaps and bounds ahead of their Intel counterparts, all while remaining energy efficient. If you are looking for the best bang for your buck, look no further than the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X. It offers up to 43% more performance than its predecessor, which will be good enough for gaming until 2020.
For those who have not upgraded to a new CPU since 2016 or earlier – don’t miss out on this gem! You can easily upgrade from an old PC with a previous generation i7 8700K to the Ryzen 9 3900X for about $300 USD. Considering it can easily be overclocked, I am confident that it could match any high-end system from Intel. So if you’re thinking about upgrading your PC but want to get some amazing value for your money, then do yourself a favor and get the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X today!
