The upcoming Elden Ring game will be the first of its kind to feature Elden Ring crossplay between all three major consoles, as well as PC. That’s right – crossplay between PC and consoles! This raises the question: What exactly does this mean? How does crossplay work? Will there be crossplay between PC and PS4? And what about Xbox One vs. PC or PS4? It’s confusing, so here’s everything you need to know about Elden Ring crossplay.
What Is Crossplay?
Cross-platform multiplayer allows players on various consoles, such as Playstation and Xbox, to play games with each other. If you are interested in playing with friends who use a different platform, then cross-platform multiplayer is for you. There is not currently any cross-platform multiplayer available in Elden Ring. Elden Ring has a variety of game modes that can be played either solo or cooperatively online, but no true cross-platform multiplayer mode at this time.
It’s possible that developers will add support for Elden Ring crossplay in future patches or updates. For now, however, it appears like there won’t be cross-platform support at launch. Instead, keep your fingers crossed that it may come eventually!
There are many games with support for cross-platform multiplayer, including Fortnite, Apex Legends, Rocket League, Minecraft, and more. The number of cross-platform titles continues to grow, so be sure to check if the game you want supports the feature before purchasing.
Which Games Have Crossplay
Looking for the best games with cross-platform multiplayer? There are tons of amazing choices out there. A few popular titles with cross-platform play include Fortnite, Minecraft, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! Some lesser known games that also offer this feature include PUBG Mobile, Path of Exile, Hearthstone, Paladins: Champions of the Realm, Dragon Ball FighterZ and Injustice 2. What about Elden Ring? It’s still unclear if Elden Ring will have cross-platform multiplayer but we’ll update you as soon as we know more! Farther down on the same page is a link to an Elden Ring Crossplay Guide.
Why does Elden Ring crossplay matter? Well, let’s just say it can be awkward when your friends want to play a game but not all of them own it on their console. The point is that many gamers might feel excluded from certain communities if they can’t enjoy the same experience as their friends who don’t own the same console or even just have a different gaming device than them. With cross-platform multiplayer, everyone gets to enjoy these awesome games together. We hope Elden Ring will be one of those great games too! For now, it looks like we won’t be able to find out any time soon. More updates coming our way very soon though so stay tuned!
Why Should I Care About Crossplay?
Cross-platform multiplayer allows players on different consoles or platforms to play together. This is beneficial because, as we’ve seen with other popular games like Fortnite, people love playing with friends from all over the world. Elden Ring crossplay, however, is a complicated issue. Some are saying that cross-platform functionality won’t be available at launch and there’s no word yet if the feature will be implemented in future updates. As of now, it looks like you’ll need an Xbox One to get your crossplay fix.
Nowadays, gamers are used to being able to play with their friends across various gaming platforms, but this is not something that will be available for Elden Ring crossplay (at least not for the time being). While some may think that having this function might make its way into the game in later patches and updates, nothing has been confirmed just yet. That being said, some players still think that cross-platform capabilities would have been great for such a new title!
How Does This Affect Me as a Player?
Online multiplayer games that don’t offer cross-platform play force players to make a decision – will they want to play the game but be excluded from playing with friends or will they prefer a lack of multiplatform, but the ability to play with their friends? For those who are interested in Elden Ring, it may come as a disappointment that cross-platform play is not available at launch. There’s no word on whether the developers have plans for adding this functionality in future updates or DLCs. It would be nice if there was some sort of fallback mode so that players could find each other even if they weren’t playing on the same platform. Asking the person which platform they’re using doesn’t always work since many people switch between devices and platforms during gameplay.
In an interview with Kotaku, Shigeru Miyamoto said it’s really difficult to implement cross-platform support because of technical limitations and an inability to prevent people cheating online by using multiple accounts across different platforms. Meanwhile, Microsoft has found success with cross-platform gaming on the Xbox One and Windows 10. So far, the company has released Minecraft (XBLA), Fallout Shelter (XBLA), Star Trek Bridge Crew (VR), Elder Scrolls Blades (Mobile) Halo Recruit (Mobile) Halo: Fireteam Raven (AR/VR) all of which are compatible with other console systems such as Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
